Goro is situated within the Park Delta, 12km from the Po mouth of the Po, in the province of Ferrara. The name Goro comes from the word Gaurus, which was the Latin name for one of the branches of the River PO. Goro harbour is of particular historic importance and according to documents dates back to the year 1000.
Today the economy of this town is based on fishing. It is a leader in Italy for clam production.One of the biggest fishing fleets in the Adriatic see is anchored in its harbour with more than 1000 people working in the fleet.In recent years Goro has become a tourist destination thanks to its environmental inportance and the uniquness of the area where it is located.
